Haptic Cognitivity at Domotex
Installation for a leading trade fair
In January 2019, DOMOTEX, the world's leading trade fair for carpets, floor coverings, and interior finishing was held in Hannover with the theme CREATE’N’CONNECT. sophiegreen was commissioned to create a stand for the Art & Interaction space within the ‘Framing Trends’ showcase of presentations and innovative product displays.
The installation HAPTIC COGNITIVITY by sophiegreen recycles offcut products from the flooring industry and re-shapes them into small mosaic pieces or 'pixels' to create a stunning neuron flooring mural. Close-up, the contrast of different textures and materials in each pixel tile is a tactile experience - viewed from a distance, the image of a data-processing cell arises.
